Composer’s Canvas

Poem: Composer’s Canvas

linen fibers thirst

so white will quench their cry

upon which lines of black will separate the ground from sky

down below, a glistening pool

deep ebony will catch

all memories from which beloved melodies will hatch

then blackbird notes will find their way

and nestle here and there

taking flight in melodies my heart alone can share

and up above lives hopeful sky

limitless and blue

where flights of fancy and delights will carry me

to you

This poem was inspired by a writing challenge: You are given a blank canvas and must paint something that represents love. It is a simple poem that makes me smile. I hope it made you smile, too. -Ivy
